Field Trip: Howard Waterfowl Search

Trip Leader: Kurt Schwarz

Date of Trip: Saturday, December 2, 2017

Locations: Lake Elkhorn, Centennial Lake, Wilde Lake, Lake Kittamaqundi, and the GE Retention Pond.

Details: We opted to wait until December as the last few years of November searches had proven pretty barren. Alas, this did not help! A measly 35 species for a morning's trek.

The day started at 30 degrees, party sunny, no wind. Temps rose to the 40, and the sky eventually clouded over completely. The visit to Centennial was shortened because a fun run closed off the west end. Wilde Lake was also partially inaccessible due to on-going dredging. We finished up by roughly 11:40.
