Field Trip: Osprey boat trip led by Greg Kearnes

Trip Leader: Mary Maxey

Recorder: John Harris

Date of Trip: Friday, June 30, 2017

Location: Jug Bay

Details: Greg banded a few, and many of the 17 people on board were allowed to hold a bird. Greg gave specific instructions so that the birds were held correctly. We also saw Greg do a little first aid on one bird to try to remove a fishing line which was imbedded in the legs of the bird. From that same nest we saw one osprey which had died because it was trapped in fishing line. Another bird died while we were there. It appeared to have a respiratory problem. We saw other nests where the birds were healthy.
