Field Trip: Saturday, March 8, 2014

Trip Leader: Kurt Schwarz

Date of Trip: Saturday, March 8, 2014

Location: Howard Waterfowl Search

Details: Howard had scouted below the dam at Elkhorn, and found nothing, so we proceeded to Wilde Lake and saw just Mallards and Ring-billed Gulls. Next was Brighton Dam where we found about 60 distant Common Mergansers and 2 Canada Geese. Fulton Pond yielded 2 Killdeer and the 4 Wilson's Snipe seen the day before. While turning around at the church in Fulton, the leader spotted a white goose among the Canadas, so quickly parked at the Post Office: it was the Ross's Goose seen two days previously. Finally we went to Centennial where numbers and variety were down from the previous two days.
