Hot Spots for Red Knots

Trip Leaders: Cyndie Loeper and Kurt Schwarz

Date of Trip: Saturday, May 28, 2011

Location: Hot Spots for Red Knots

Details: Joint with Montgomery County Bird Club. All day. Mostly Sunny, though some parties encountered heavy down pours in the early afternoon. We could not locate the one extant rarity, Little Egret. Red Knots were found in abundance, as were other shorebirds. Notable miss at Bombay Hook: American Avocet. Some bailed to chase the Little Egret unsuccessfully, the other enjoyed Black-necked Stilt on nest and up to two dozen Bald Eagles!
